A Brief History

Battle Pre-School Playgroup was formed in 1967 and sessions were taken in the sports pavilion at the recreation ground in North Trade Road.  It was immediately apparent from the enthusiastic response from local parents that such a playgroup was most welcome and urgently required.  The pavilion was, whilst large enough, not in a particularly convenient location and obviously not ideal.

It was quickly determined that our own building was needed and it is entirely due to the hard work and dedication of the founder members that after some years sufficient funds were raised to purchase our present building outright.  This has been extended over recent years through various fundraising events and the support from various organisations to provide disabled access, cloakroom facilities and more recently a new floor surface outside with a over - head canopy.

We now have the distinction of being one of only a handful of playgroups who own their own premises.  For nearly 40 years a commitee comprising of both parents and local business representatives have run Battle Pre-School Playgroup.  We still constantly fundraise to maintain our building and update equipment for the children.

Key Person

Our overall aim is to accomodate your requirements and ensure you feel secure in the knowledge that your child is cared for in a safe and enjoyable surrounding. With our key person approach we allocate a member of staff or 'Key person' to your child. This key person will build a special relationship with you and your child to meet all needs while in our care. You can be reassured that the 'Key person' will offer security, reassurance and continuity and understand individual needs.

EYFS - Early Years Foundation Stage

We follow a broad play based early years foundation stage that allows your child to progress at his/her own rate. This supports social and emotional development, cooperation and collaboration to give them confidence in their learning environment. Our skilful team take the time to observe and understand your childs individual needs and interests so that play opportunities, resources and interactions are planned appropriately.

Partnership with parents
We aim to work in close partnership with you to achieve the best for your child. We will talk to you about their development and discuss our observations and individual plans for them both verbally and through your childs individual learning journey.
